I prayed this was one of my smaller mistakes. Today I was leaving for Asia for my new job. I was going for a year. Maybe less if everything goes well. Behind, I am leaving my wife, my two kids, and my dog. I never thought I would be able to live without these people.

My wife was furious that I was leaving. She said that I was leaving our family behind. And I knew this. I felt horrible and honestly I considered quitting my job. But after I realized how much of a dictator my boss was, I realized it would be best if I went. My family can’t live off of one paycheck.

I arrived at my gate and took a seat. I had a small suitcase in hand. The rest had been shipped. I’m not going to lie, after I said goodbye to my family I started crying. My son waved his floppy baby hand at me and I broke. Just thinking of it now made me want to cancel this whole arrangement.

That idea had never came to me. I could just cancel the arrangement. I was here crying in front of everyone in this terminal and I didn’t even have to be here. I could just tell my boss that I wasn’t going to go.

I stood up and grabbed my suitcase. This was the most thrill I had ever had in my life. I walked past TSA and stepped outside. I heard calls for my flight but ignored them. I got in an uber and went home.
