POEM STARTER
Submitted by Mae Bailey
“We live in a land where the footprints of ghosts linger.”
Use this line to start or end a poem. It can be any genre as long as you feel it fits the sentence well.
Absolute One
Taking another sip from the tequila bottle he kept on the bottom shelf for months
Richard continued to tell his story
“It was one of those nights with no weather-
It was awkward and promised something with nothing there”
Bleak and awkward and blah blah blah blah”
A pause
But it was not bland
I could swear on those nights I saw a ghost man
I
I - I swear to GOD I saw a ghost
But it didn’t even mean anything
It was just walking and walking in circles like it was chasing itself
Fu- like
Cmon man I know you don’t believe me but it was THERE
I stared blankly back at him I almost felt bad
Richard chucked for a sec_ _
Alright man I’m sorry it’s
It’s just the liq
…
The liqo
……
Listen I wish I could say it was but I FEEL this man
What could possibly make you want to visit that place I swear it is NOT a good idea
……
Richard looks down for a bit It was cold man
And I miss him.
I haven’t - we haven’t seen him in years
And I know he was always an independent guy but
We gotta accept that he’s gone.
You haven’t even seen ME in months bro its like
You
You disappeared.
Why?
I-I miss you man
I stare
Richard looks back.
You look like him.
Alright bro, I can take you to where he dissapeared but that’s the end of journey
I can never go back there
We live in a land where
Footprints, man
Of ghosts linger
I want no part of that.
I smile
I am here to find a monster.
“Perfect”
_Somewhere, somehow There is a spiral star case and a MONSTER chasing itself. I desire the pace_ .
