POEM STARTER

Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.

An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.

Old Poem

There’s room in my heart

It has never been filled

I’ve thought were I smart

It would slowly be healed

Still lingers the void

For the one never met

Must forever I mourn

Will I someday forget

This was actually written several years ago about a miscarriage in my family that happened when I was a child. The prompt reminded me of it. Technically it’s not talking about death of a person, more like the death of an idea.
