Carlo leaned his head against the wall as he stared at Evelyn. “Eve, come on.” He smirked, “Can’t indulge me for a few minutes?”

Evelyn tossed her black hair to the side, crossing her arms. “Don’t play coy with me Carlo.” She glared at his demeanor, “This is serious. And I don’t have time for games.” Evelyn brushed dirt off her skirt, although there wasn’t a spec on it. She stepped closer to Carlo, who measedly raised his brow.

“Right, so very serious.” He responsed nonchalantly, crossing his arms.

“Look, I dont want in on whatever power trip you’re trying to run.” Carlo’s voice was firm, finally standing to his full height. “The McNeil’s mean business Evelyn.” He paused, looking away, before meeting her caramel gaze, “An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. They will fight tooth and nail to get what they want.” He sighed, running his hand through his hair, “And they don’t care who they hurt in the process.”

Evelyn only stared, her eyes never faltering, “They can fight all they want. But I won’t let them get away with it.” She crossed her arms, “Everything has consequences, and it’s time they pay what they owe.” She turned abruptly headed toward the door, “Just tell me you don’t want anything to do with this and I won’t bother you with my so called ‘power trip’.” She air quoted. As she grabbed the handle, Carlo spoke up, “That’s not—“ The slam of the door interjected, cutting him off before he could further explain.
