WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Frankie Famighetti
Create an origin story for a common saying, such as 'break the ice' or 'once in a blue moon'.
Your story should explain how this expression came to be, and why it means what it does.
Blue Moon
The moon appears blue every few years. We all celebrate under the night sky with a ceremony to honor it. It’s a tradition that doesn’t happen too often which makes it that much more special. A lot happens in just a few years.
That’s actually a really long time. Then that’s when the phrase came. We refer to the blue moon when we want to emphasize something rarely happening. It was the perfect comparison.
