WRITING OBSTACLE

Write the climax of a murder mystery story without any reference to the victim or the crime itself.

The climax can be defined as the point in the story with the highest tension and stakes. How will you drive the story without mentioning the crime?

Give Chase To The Suspected

A chorus of gasps erupted from the guests as the detective pointed an accusing hand at the culprit.

Rumbled, the perpetrator makes a hasty exit out of the lounge room’s door and down the hallway leading to the exit.

The guests were all on their feet, a couple of them give chase to the perpetrator, whilst the others stand frozen in shock, gloved hands holding onto their wine glasses like they were their most prized possessions.

A yell and a crash can be heard coming from outside whilst the guests apprehend the perpetrator, pinning them to the ground as the detective makes a calm walk towards the scene.

Back inside one of the guests takes a long sip of their wine, and as their glass grazes their lips, they smirk. They’d succeeded in misleading the detective and pinning it on their associate. The murderer remains free and they just very well might kill again.
