I’m conscious once more, but I haven’t opened my eyes yet.

A soft wind, then a drop on my skin, then another, and another. Like the wetness I felt on my skin, I feel the moisture seep through my clothes from the ground beneath me — rough yet wet under my back.

Uncomfortable, I try seeing. Slowly, I open my eyes. Barely, I see. Does it matter if I opened my eyes or not? Such darkness I woke up in. There was only barely the moonlight. Like the air around, the little light is cold. I barely see the edges of the trees that surround me. My eyes try to make out what is in the distance, however I can only see so far. Far, I see no end.
