STORY STARTER
"Be careful out there."
Use this as the closing line to a short story.
Watch Your Step
Everything was no longer as you remembered.
The world was a mass of undisturbed wreckage, destroying everyone and everything in its path. Society as you knew it took on another meaning. Previous familial, political, international, and societal conflicts were now just a stick in the mud compared to the disaster once called home.
Trade issues? Try having no economy.
Government affair issues? Try having no government. Amazing in the first few hours, but once everyone stops caring about so called “laws”, it gets complicated.
Societal norms jailing you? Try having almost quite literally nobody around you. It gets pretty lonely out here. Maybe that’s why I’m rambling.
Our problems didn’t stop here. Every conflict in every country stemmed into one big ball of “oh fuck.”
I mean, looking at some other countries, they’re had it worse. At least they’ve been put out of their misery. Envious, really.
It’s better not to wander. Who knows what could happen next? Maybe a spider will bite a corpse and create a flying zombie apocalypse. Maybe insects will reproduce and suddenly create massive versions of themselves with even better motion detection. Maybe, you’ll just die because mother nature decides that you’re kind of weird.
Once rot takes rot, it festers.
You probably expected something more extraordinary since you’ve been gone, haven’t you? Flying cars, robots, crazy body mods, a government that’s competent. Sorry to disappoint, might wanna go back the way you came.
It’s a bit late now, so stick close with me.
I’m just glad heaven and hell still have space, if those even exist anymore. Maybe the afterlife is a bottomless pit. Or worse, a brainrot concert, where your brain actually rots becuade of toxic body odour.
Once they’ll full, they say the dead will walk the earth. I doubt I’d live to see that day.
Let go of what you once knew. The world of jobs, money, order, and science are now over. No logical explanation would give anyone closure to why this place is.
Nothing is safe. Nobody is safe. Everyone is out there to get you. Trust yourself and only yourself.
Be careful out there.
