Misinformation
Pareidolia
The word doctors use when you’ve gone mad
Seeing faces where they don’t belong
And hearing voices when you shouldn't
Like when I hear my name
Called out to me when I lie awake
In bed
A voice that I know is long gone
But lingers with surprising
Sameness to someone I once knew
Hallucinations
A silly word someone may tell you
When you’re “just seeing things”
Even when what you are seeing is
True
But I know that it is true
Because I've seen them
Schizophrenia
The word society uses when
The situation is becoming serious
When passing it off as a joke
Or some phenomenon is
No longer acceptable
But when you tell someone that
You see the people in all black
The people who aren't people at all
Trying to hurt you and
Trying to pull you from your body
You hope that the person you have
Told is someone you can trust
You tell them you can not move.
Can not breathe.
Not even closing your eyes
Is an option
So all you can do is sit and wait
Because maybe that childhood lie
Of not seeing it so it can't see you
Will work this time
But it never does
And after coming clean about
Something you cannot control
You end up thrown into a
Safe little room
With safe coloured bottles
And safely rounded door handles
For a safer experience
If you told me about it
I would believe you
I always do
Because I see them
And to think
All of this could have been avoided
If we only stopped sleeping
