WRITING OBSTACLE
Create a narrative about the scorching desert, from the perspective of a small insect that must inhabit this setting.
The Death Storm
Survival. That’s the only goal in this life. We do not choose our lives, but our lives have been chosen for us. Everyone’s fate was sealed the minute the desert came into existence. Before the drought, life was good, or so i’ve heard. water was plentiful and the insects lived in harmony. Then, that dreadful drought came and almost everyone was wiped out …almost.
Of the survivors, it essentially became every bug for himself. over time, certain cliques began forming. You had your classic dung dynasty, your freedom flies, …., and then you had…well the roaches.
No one dares to disobey the roaches. they pretty much became royalty the second the desert began. Roaches can survive almost anything, making them live incredibly long on almost nothing, and very, very hard to kill. that didn’t stop them from taking what they could. Anything they can get, they take, whether by scavenging, or by force.
Then, you have your outcasts, like me. The outcasts scavenge, wander, and do their best to survive on their own. god forbid if one were to run into a clan. they aren’t particularly fond of visitors, especially outcasts.
I however, consider myself to be a special kind of outcast. I happen to have a big reputation as not only an outcast, but the heir to the roach family.
