POEM STARTER
Write a poem that shows how a single moment in a person’s childhood still affects them to this day.
It does not have to be a something negative...
Haunted
I said the wrong thing once when I was ten, and it’s cursed me ever since.
It was nothing bad, not like a sin, but my brain can’t forget and so I live in regret.
Embarrassment is a curse that’s cruel and it’s twisted, my brain won’t forget no matter how I resist it.
I lie in bed at night and it pops in my brain, the words causing my sleep to allude me, my dreams to refrain.
I’ll be working and it’ll pop into my head, I’m sure it’ll haunt me long after I’m dead.
What did I say that has scarred me so? I’m sure you’re just dying to know.
I called my teacher mum which we’ve all done I’m sure, except my teacher wasn’t a woman, he was a man.
And now that dumb mistake will never leave my brain again.
