WRITING OBSTACLE
Describe a forest/woodland setting without using any real colours.
You may use imagery, similes, shade and tone etc, but do not use the words for any real colours.
A Forest
The trees swayed in the wind, sunlight shining on the leaves, casting shadows on the forest floor. Patches of soft moss covers the tree trunks, that are wide, tall, and rough.
Smells of wood, pine, and sap fill the air. Behind the present smell of trees, one can catch a faint scent of rain against rocks, and dew in the morning.
Birds swoop through the trees while singing their usual chirps, squeaks and caws. Wind whistles through the branches, but not loudly. All anyone could hear is a soft whoosh like a whispered secret.
Smooth stones cover the forest floor, while the veiny leaves slowly fall on to them.
And the forest continues to live on and on and on.
