POEM STARTER

Write a poem in a different genre to your usual comfort zone.

This poem can be in any style and with any theme, but try to write in a genre that you wouldn't normally try.

Neon Veins

The city bleeds in neon veins,

Rain-slick streets hum electric refrains.

The city bleeds in neon veins,

Rain slick streets hum electric refrains.

Circuit hearts pulse in shadowed towers,

Data whispers like synthetic flowers.

Chrome eyes scan the void between,

Human and machine, nothing serene.

A stray cat hums, tail flicks sparks,

Ghosts of code haunt the after-dark.

They sell dreams in fiber-optic jars,

Hiding truth behind augmented scars.

The air tastes of oil and ozone regret,

We forget the sun, but the screen won’t forget.

A girl with wires for hair walks past,

Silent rebellion, built to last.

She whispers to the skyline, a digital prayer,

“I am still alive, somewhere in there.”
