Skies

Wings spread as I soar. Leaving my clutch safe in the cave. I need to fly to find food for myself and my new soon to be hatchlings, my babys. I soar far no fields full of food in sight. The apples I would take no longer fill the field close to home, so I must soar farther, and farther still. A sudden pain envelopes my left wing. The cold air beginning to sting. Suddenly I begin plummet through the air, more strings of pain throughout my wings, i land with a thud, barely able to slow my landing to reduce damage. I hear cluttering of weapons and hear the voices of.. humans? No… no— I can’t let them— no. One small human approaches my snout as the others pull something tight over my wings, preventing me from moving. A roar vibrates through my chest. A soft tired voice begins to speak, and all the cheering voices go quiet. The soft voice grows louder, and louder as all the humans back away, the humans voice softening as he looks at me. I let out a low growl, not daring him to come closer. He lifts his hands and sits a few steps away, his eyebrow perking as my stomach growls. Oh I’m so hungry. His face twists into something I don’t understand and he slips an apple out of his thigh, and slips it to me. I swallow it immidietly. He slowly begins to untie me, and I am confused. Why is he helping me?
