POEM STARTER
Write a poem about the theme of deal breakers.
The Emotionally Silenced
To someone who keeps their
Love in their back pocket, tucked away
Deep down to be discarded.
Expression is the biggest deal breaker.
Protection is the mess burning deep inside
They won't let anyone see.
**"I don't care what it is, let me in."**
In the language of the emotionally silenced,
This phrase crosses the line, curving into
exposure and leading to eternal disappointment.
I'm ready for you but it doesn't matter.
As long as you're not ready for me.
And I don't take it personal, I dont try to.
I just unfold a map and pinpoint each
country you'd rather be in to avoid
Me seeing you, understanding you,
And me regretting you.
The latter had not even happened yet.
Though, you are so psychic. You predicted
The worst to come, so I gave it to you.
I gave you my softness, my adoration.
In return, you gave me what you knew would keep me on my toes.
I clung to the confusion.
But left after the headache.
Wishing you well.
Knowing you can have it.
But me, my love was given away at your expense
Of my expression
Being your dealbreaker.
