POEM STARTER
Awakening
Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.
Kingdom Of Dusk
Awakening a reminder of breaking dawn to some
A reminder of a difference
A reminder of a new existence
But to I awakening.....nothing but a distant craving
An unwanted craving
I was told awakening was the greatest gift of life
That a fulfilled life required awakening
That the greatest people had to have seen the breaking dawn
That at some point light will bring the dawn upon us
A part of my deepest being aspired to be amongst those who will witness the light
Those who will live in a world radiating with light
Those who will find a new meaning in life
Those who fought to see the dawn
Those who awakened
I can never truly explain my belief
A caterpillar was never taught how to become a butterfly
They never had instruction written on paper
They just know
They knew they would change at some point
When they do grow their wings it is a moment of ecstasy
A moment to never be forgotten
A moment of relief
A moment of awakening
But what about those who wish to stay in the dark
Those wishing not to see the light
Those wishing to stay the same
Those wishing to stay in the dead of night
Those wishing to remain in their cocoon
Those wanting their life to stay the same
Safe from the outside
Safe from the predators
Safe from the dawn
Is there such a place ?
Is there such a name for that wish ?
Is there a possibility for us to shine in the dark?
Has there ever been a kingdom that hasn't seen light?
I wish to know more than anything.
But as I was told awakening is the greatest gift of life
Refusing to do so is dooming yourself
So of course, I awakened
What other choice did I have?
But I pray that whomever this reaches
Someday finds a kingdom that strives in the dusk
That shines in the dark
That finds a meaning to life without seeing the light
That refuses to awaken.
A kingdom of dusk...
