WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a fast-paced scene that takes place during a rush hour.

There doesn't need to be a dramatic plot, but think about how you can create and maintain a busy and rushed feeling in a short story.

Amidst the Blur...

She was drowning in plain sight, but no one could really tell.

At first it was just a rush of emotions, the kind that one would easily dismiss.

But there she was, gasping for air. All her memories once scattered and soft, turned into one huge monster she now lived with. All she could think of was the failure, deadlines and how her laugh had started to sound hollow in her own ears.

The few who noticed would remark..."it's just the monster under YOUR bed" As if the suffocation was a private malfunction not a symptom of something larger.

And as she sat at the edge of her bed, contemplating about everything...she could hear the echoes of the city as it roared- phones ringing, cars blaring, surrounded by motion, she felt everything and nothing all at once.

The world was speeding past her. So fast that no one had time ask if she was ok.

So she sat there yearning for someone to see the moment she went under.
