"There were concentration camps back in Kaso," I explain to Ade. "If you got lucky, you would get the nice ones. If you weren’t, you get the bad ones."

"What’s the difference?" he asks as he polishes his golden armour.

"The nice ones have beds. They weren’t the best, heck. I wouldn’t even consider them beds. All they were was metal bunk beds and some sort of metal to lay on so you don’t get harmed by the bunk beds."

"The hell?"

"I know." I take off my helmet. "The nice ones did have running water so that was okay. I mean, we didn’t really get to use it. There were restrictions for how much we could use a day—not per person. But as the whole institution. And it wasn’t a lot."

"How much was it?"

"Probably like the amount of two showers that the royals would take."

I take off my armour.

"Damn."

I nod. "It’s still a bit better than the bad ones. They have no beds and no running water. I heard some get just one bucket for the whole place."

"What?"

"I know." I wear my trousers. "Both places were still bad in basically every other aspect. You got treated the same, same food, well they both lacked food so," I shrug. "They were horrible. You would get beaten, assaulted, raped-…"
