Moments That Never Return

Sitting with the sound of her own existence, loneliness drifted in like a shadow that followed her every step. Silence echoed throughout her life, whispering in ways only she could hear. Pressing her head into her pillow with quiet frustration, she noticed the softness and warmth of the blankets surrounding her.

Morning brought no relief. Her thoughts felt heavier, and life seemed out of place—as if it should be something else. Unaware of her surroundings until something pulled at her attention, she realized how much life had slipped through her hands. She noticed the still moment around her, and how she was standing in all she had.

She let go of the future she had tried so hard to picture and surrendered to the slow unfolding of life. Time softened as she held onto tiny, fleeting details—a gentle breeze brushing against her skin, morning light streaming through her window, and the absence of all else.

She had yet to know what her life would become, but it wasn’t time. No amount of rushing could make it come faster, so she learned to linger where she was, knowing life was already in the midst of something.
