Ruby Blues

[Amelya]

Outside the tent Cleo was quick to push her to the side. Nela and the others followed. A his from the cat caused them a look, but kept on walking. Yet it made sense to everyone to let them speak. Signaling that they had a moment to themselves.

“What’s wrong?” Amelya sighed softly.

“I just got back from being taken by Onyx and you don’t think anything is wrong?” Cleo huffed, searching for something in Amelya’s eyes. Anything to explain what had happened since she’d been gone or what was going on.

“You left willingly….” She retorted sassily and Cleo slumped against her with a groan.

“Like I had a choice….” It came out of her mouth as a pouty whine.

“You completed our pair…. Then took off….” Amelya shook her head. “How was I supposed to feel?”

Her voice cracked, pushing Cleo into the next tent harder than she anticipated. Waving her away Amelya sat down in the grass. Tucking her head onto her knees.

“They would have done worse….” Cleo tried to explain. “Onyx doesn’t take kindly to a no of any kind”

“I fought an army of hunters, got taken over by the original witch, who I found out is my mother, I got trapped by another witch, then I nearly died by Onyx men…….” Amelya blurted it all out not even looking in Cleo’s direction. “Yet the whole time I was begging for you to be ok….”

“Babe… I’m good. We survived it” Cleo reached her fingers out to hold her lover. “Onyx is hell bent of his goal. It won’t budge ever. I tried….”

Amelya batted them away, still without looking up. Unsure of what to do or say next she plopped down next to her. Cleo tried to nudge her a bit, knowing she was holding it together by a strand.

“This from the start hasn’t been easy… but I’d take a hard day together… over even good days alone…” Cleo uttered the words and started to walk away when she felt a hand on her back.

“Hopefully there will be many less good days alone” Amelya uttered and sighed. “I had everyone here and I couldn’t stop thinking about you….”

“I had Willow and Onyx….. rambling on about how all the races started. How humans destroyed them over power….. power he will get revenge for….” Cleo said looking back at Amelya who still hadn’t looked up at her. “He will never stop…. He hates them”

“I don’t care about him…. I don’t care about their past….” Amelya looked up through tear filled eyes. “I love you….. Please don’t leave me again” Amelya sobbed into her knees, holding on to Cleo’s cami with a closed fist.

“I love you too” She quickly pulled Amelya forward into her arms. Not caring about the tears, or their little spat. Just wanting her pair to be as close as possible.

“I found out a lot from the witch” Amelya started after things had died down a bit between them.

“That’s good” Cleo said back, still enjoying the comfort of their closeness. “You can’t read minds anymore can you?” Cleo questioned and Amelya quickly realized the noise had stopped.

Focusing onto Newt for a second. Who had been standing a few tents away, Jayden talking to him about something. She let out a grunt of frustration.

“I was thinking to you the entire time we were in the tent” Cleo’s thoughts came into her head.

“I can now…. I’m tired…. And stressed.” Amelya quickly retorted. “If I focuse it works….”

“Sampson’s making a mistake. Jayden shouldn’t go alone. No telling what could be waiting for him out there.” Monticello and Sampson smiled as they walked past the girls.

“Fuck!” Amelya groaned.

“What boo?” Cleo asked, rubbing her back.

“Nothing I just want to cuddle up and sleep” Amelya tried not to seem guilty, but Jayden could handle himself.

“We’ll we should figure out where everyone else is gonna sleep tonight? The humans especially.” Cleo asked pulling Amelya by the hand back towards their frowning group of friends.

“So your all vampires?” Sam questioned looking straight at Lexi as they walked.

Of course that caused most of them to chuckle at her ignorance. Gabe just rubbed his temple and sighed. Causing Lexi to grab his arm with a reassuring glance.

“They shouldn’t be here” He hissed under his breathe as the girls joined them.

“I’m a werewolf” Nela said quickly , not to be grouped in with the vamps and to break Gabe out of his mouth watering over the girls.

“So then I’m ?” Sally questioned.

“Part of my pack now….”

“The pack of two” Jayden added in shoving Gabe into Lexi playfully. “At least it’s one more then we had yesterday”

“Quit it. Bozo!” Lexi hissed, trying to get back between Gabe and the humans.

“I’m human as well” Newt stepped in beside Jayden.

“What are you like twelve?” Sally asked rudely.

“Yeah….” Newt answered.

“His fathers a hunter. Who nearly killed all my people” Sapphire spoke walking up to the group. “You three are going to be here of your own free will. But I advise you against getting to friendly with my people. Once we can safely get you back to human civilization we will”

“I’m not going anywhere without Sally. So you might as well get used to seeing me.” Maddness sounded very sure of herself.

“Ohhh girls very protective” Nela laughed at the surprised look on Sapphire’s face. “I don’t think she’s every been talked to like that before”

“I am vampire royalty….” Sapphire groaned and everyone started to chuckle.

“As usual humans don’t get it” Gabe spat back, glaring at his sisters friends.

Everyone joined in the laughter and Maddness started to turn red. Amelya shook her head knowing only one of her friends would openly talk back to an original vampire like that.

“This is why she’s called Maddness” Sam added in joining everyone in laughter.

“You realize she’s the oldest vampire in this camp. She could easily end your days” Monticello was a few steps away, Sampson in toe behind him.

“Everyone return to your tent from the night previous. Three more tents are being set up” Sampson spoke out and everyone started to disband.

“I want you and Cleo with your friends” Sapphire said pulling Amelya away from the group.

“I’ll be there too. Just in case my pup gets rowdy” Nela giggled a bit looking back at their huge group of friends.

“Of course you were paying attention” Sapphire snapped a bit before sighing. “I just want them to be comfortable and not eaten.”

“There’s a lot of young vampires in your group” Cleo shook her head in agreement.

“We will be on watch as well. I just want to make sure everyone knows” Sapphire said and started off towards her groups tents.

“Humans around vamps really doesn’t go over well does it?” Newt questioned Cleo as he watched Jayden headed off away from the tents.

“It’s not customary in our society. Mostly due to it being problematic.” Cleo answered thinking about how many times Amelya nearly met her end. “Even outside of feeding, it’s just not safe for humans.”

“I can definitely agree with that” Amelya giggled, leaving Sapphire to rejoin them.

In a half an hour everyone had found their own sleeping place and Cleo had said goodbye to her brother. Who had left quickly south, without anyone else. Cleo and Amelya ended up with all the humans, both wolves and two of house emeralds people on watch at the tents edge.

“So you have been keeping this a secret since we seen them at your house?” Sam didn’t even let everyone sit on there sleeping bags before she glared at Amelya.

“It wasn’t my secret to tell…. I wasn’t even one of them yet..” Amelya’s eyes pleaded with her friends to forgive her. “I’m sorry but there wasn’t another way”

“We cried for you… the whole school did” Maddness spoke next, letting Sally slip into her lap on the sleeping bag. “Everyone thought a random break in had killed you all”

“I even thought Gabe was dead” Sam added in with a groan. “Not that it matters much…. Since he’s mated to Lexi”

“I can say I’m sorry until the sun comes up tomorrow…. But it wouldn’t help. I made the choice to join their world” Amelya kissed Cleo on her throat as they both settled onto the ground. “I didn’t want you all to get hurt. Or be dragged into my choice…. But I guess that really doesn’t matter…”

“We were your friends…. All our lives… You could have trusted us to keep this secret” Sally said sadly with a yawn.

“Her hands were tied. Lexi’s mother is the head of the emerald sanctuary and pretty much forced her hand. Before bowing to the most evil vampire who ever lived, but that’s a story for another day” Cleo huffed as Amelya snuggled up to her.

“If it means anything… I’m glad I’m not the only human here” Newt slumped down into the sleeping bag with a smile.

“You don’t seem like the same girl anymore….” Sam said it like a question but it was more of an accusation.

Maddness and Sally looked at her with a bit of shock but didn’t add anything to the fire that had started. “Could her human friends survive along side her new world?” Amelya questioned herself but felt Cleo’s hands against her back.

“I’ll help you protect them” Cleo’s whisper, sent a cold chill across her ear and down her spine.

“I’m not… but I hope you all forgive me….” A pleading half smile hung on her lips. “We need to get some rest. Walking isn’t fun”

“Don’t vamps buy cars?” Sam groaned, looking at her other friends. Who seemed lost in eachother at the moment, cuddled up in the sleeping bag.

[Jayden]

He’d never been one to fear meeting someone. But the way all the older vampires had talked about this coven of witches. Made him a bit uneasy. Well more then a bit.

It took two full day cycles before he’d started onto the stony streets of the city. “Where would he start? Nobody gave him a sure place. Just this city” He grumbled to himself watching the large crowds move through the streets, in and out of small shops.

“Your kind isn’t welcome down here” A voice hissed from above him on a balcony. It was a boy close in age to him with Snow White spiked hair, sea bluish green eyes and an all black outfit that looked early 1800’s. A crossbow hung across his midsection menisingly.

“I don’t want any trouble!” Jayden through his hands up and gave the boy a grinning smile.

“So turn around and head back where you came from blood sucker!” The boy hissed, leaping down onto the ground ahead of him.

“I can’t… I need to be here” Jayden sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I have business here with a coven of witches…. You wouldn’t know where..”

“I’ll stop you right there!” The crossbow was now pointed up against his nose, wood rubbing against his chin.

“Well that was hardly cool”

“Your not gonna get close to them….” He grumbled.

“Onyx is back… I’m trying to find them to help us fight him…” Jayden dropped his hands and groaned. “If you know where they are. It would be nice to know”

“Sounds like a vampire problem. Us witches want nothing to do with the affairs of the fangs” A female voice called from behind him, but the crossbow kept his focus.

“Isn’t this boy a hunter?” Jayden still didn’t look away from the tip of the silver bolt in his face.

“You realize a witch created the hunters? Especially the ten most powerful.” The girls voice again but Jayden chuckled.

“I fought one of them I think…. Double flame pistols. Asshole of a guy but was he fast.”

“The black flame hunter is number six on the list. I’m number four” The boy shook his head and put the crossbow back onto his back. “Lightning Bolt Hunter.”

“So you protect the coven?” Jayden questioned turning and meeting a pair of bright green and light brown eyes.

The girl was leaning on the back of a wooden bench. Floating almost in the air, her black boots only touching the wood with its tips. Yet not a single person walking past batted an eye. Or even stopped to point at this rediculios sight.

“We protect the coven” She whispered into his ear. “I’m the paradox hunter. Number five if you must know”

“So are you going to point me in the right dirrection?” Jayden groaned, already tired of their wild antics.
