WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a 100-word description of your main character's physical appearance.
Consider which features are most important to mention; which might factor into the story, or change the way the reader, and other characters, interact with your protagonist?
Colorful Highlight (Pt 2)
Kent (from More Than Blood, gay)
Being the oldest male heir, even though he’s third in line, there’s always been this expectation. He would marry a woman with high status and produce heirs to potentially take the throne. And yet, that’s not his vision of what he truly desires. What he wants and what is expected are completely different. He had resigned himself to his fate. That is until he fell in love with Flent. The only issue is that Flent is a man. Kent may be a royal, but he feels like a fool around Flent. He can see a wonderful future with him. Hopefully that can happen in the world he lives in.
Amerie (from More Than Blood, lesbian)
Being a Disaster with the ability to give pain, Amerie has always been seen differently to her siblings. She would never see the throne, thank goodness for that. When they all have to separate and flee their kingdom, Amerie is almost guilty to say she felt free. No one to micromanage her every move. No one to fear her. No one that knew her. Somehow along the way, meeting Mysty, she felt seen in a way she never thought possible. She could truly be herself and let herself be known.
Spade (from More Than Blood, pansexual)
He witnessed the love matches between his parents, Cove and Thorne, and even the beginning of Kent and Flent. How could any person live up to all of them? It was just easier to dance with someone and never get serious about them. Sure he was a royal, but he had no expectations on him. Not like his siblings. Being the baby of the family meant that he would never rule. He thought that the everlasting love only happened to the lucky ones. Then he met Pierce during the lowest point in his life. And he figures that maybe he was wrong about that.
Hale (from More Than Blood, queer)
(Yes, I made all the royal siblings queer. Why? Because I can.). She is undefined because she doesn’t need to be. Hale lives her life to train and be one with her sword. Labels don’t matter in the battlefield, so why should they to her? You are who you are. Romance doesn’t interest her. There’s probably a title for that, but being a princess is title enough for her. She doesn’t need another one. So she’s queer and she’s perfectly ok with that.
Bell (from Soulmate Stories, demiromantic)
While I didn’t make Bell explicitly demiromantic, I always imagined her to be. She got to experience more than a decade of friendship with Cross before dating him. Their bond was already solid which only aided their eventual romance. Bell needs stability with her complicated family issues, and Cross is her rock. He provides the consistency that she so desperately crazes in her chaotic life. He never made her question his intentions or his feelings. They are simply Bell and Cross. The same they’ve always been, just with a smidge of romance.
Ria (from Soulmate Stories, pansexual)
She lives life to the fullest. Why live life boring when life is short? Having had her soulmate pass away, she didn’t think love would be in the cards for her anymore. Since everyone knows you only get one soulmate. Then she met Amelie in a dream. Well, in Amelie’s dream. Ria just jumped into it. In a way, they both were lonely when they found one another. They just fit. Where Ria was passionate and outspoken, Amelie was calm and dedicated. When they met, it felt like two pieces fitting together from different puzzles. They may not form a correct image, but they go together unconventionally.
Tharen (from Soulmate Stories, gay)
Having the ability to visually see everyone’s soulmates, Tharen wasn’t sure if he was destined to ever meet his own. It’s kinda depressing to be able to confirm everyone else’s and never know about his. Then he ran into Liam. Literally. He couldn’t be happier that his dad got him into soccer. It gave him his soulmate. And with Liam comes Liam’s friends which granted him knowledge of a sister. Well half, but Tharen doesn’t care about halfies. She’s his sister. He never knew how hidden he kept parts of himself until he found his soulmate. Liam gave him everything.
Lane (from Soulmate Stories, aroace)
She isn’t in many stories (maybe only two), but I plan for her to be in more soon! She has her soulmate powers, so she has a soulmate. But she doesn’t need someone else. She’s perfectly happy with herself. Life is only as complicated as you make it. For her, it’s simple. She doesn’t feel the need for romance. She’s not emotionless or hate love. Lane just doesn’t need someone else to make her complete.
Ness (from State Experiments, lesbian)
Love is weird for Ness. Mostly because she doesn’t have any memories before the kidnapping and experiments. But somehow she knows that she doesn’t feel anything for men. It seems that the power of liking women transcended past the memory loss and torture she’s experienced. Revenge was Ness’ goal, so falling in love was not on her agenda. Not even close. Ever adds a wrench in her plans. Because she loves Ever’s kindness and want to help others. But she is also the daughter of the man who kidnapped Ness and caused her memory loss.
