STORY STARTER

'Diamonds are beautiful, but they are also strong.'

Use this as a metaphor in a story or poem

Mother Says

Diamonds are beautiful, but they are also strong,

i was the diamond, my mother used to tell me.

though i wasn't so convinced, after all im weak,

how long am i going to rot in the comfort of my bed,

while i creak?

you used to say i was unique.

i hate lies,

my mother used to do it all the time,

the lying the drinking the smoking,

"the good the bad the ugly are whats good for growth" she says,

yet it was only ever bad and ugly.

im no diamond if anything im as fragile as a paper sheet.

maybe in another life you weren't an addict,

and this constant torment wouldn't repeat.
