POEM STARTER

Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.

An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.

Goodbye Sammy

An energetic shine of light,

Racing across the moors,

Begging for treats constistenly,

Gone but never forgotten.

My dog Sammy was this light,

that shone bright,

who raced across the moors,

to catch a bird in its mouth - but never did.

Sammy always had a seat at the head of the table,

Waiting for one of us to give in to put a treat down,

But none of us ever did.

None of us realised that one day,

it would be his last light,

his last race across the moors,

his last beg for treats.

He will be gone,

But never

Ever, forgotten.
