VISUAL PROMPT

Write a dual-perspective story from the point of view of a character and their secret admirer.

From A Lowly Prince To Him

‘Dear Alexei,’ he began to write, the words flowing onto the paper the second he thought of them, which was both good and bad in their own, obvious ways.

‘I just wanted to write about much I admired your appearance today. You seemed more flamboyant than you have been lately, which relieves me. I’m glad you’re doing alright, from what I could see, at least. I hope you continue to be, I dislike having to see you in a saddened state. With all the love I can fathom, M. K.’

He set his pen down next to him and reread the letter, again and again, making it was perfect. He couldn’t make himself seem like a fool, especially with his status.

“Oh Vera?” His voice called out, which made the door to his room’s balcony open, and out came the very girl-well, firefly girl-he wanted to see. She looked down at him, then at the paper at his hand.

“Do you wish me to send that to the usual spot?” She asked, the antennas on her head going up and her light of a tail brightening slightly.

“Persicely” he replied, getting up from the edge of the balcony and putting the carefully written letter in her hand.

She gave him a nod before walking back inside, closing the door behind her to give him his privacy once again. She made her way to the guard’s locker room for the second time that day, opening the door and instantly being shot with the usual stench of sweat and metal.

She ignored it and put the letter in the gap of Alexei’s locker. Just as she did, the sound of someone walking and through the other door, which made her jump and quietly run out of the room.

The person was Alexei, who immediately went to his locker and opened it, seeing the letter gracefully fly out of the locker and float to the ground. He picked it up and almost immediately recognized the handwriting of his “secret admirer.” He read the words aloud, his pointer tail swaying side to side as he read.

He folded the letter in his pocket to put with the rest of them in his room, on the wall which had most of them on it. He wanted to know whoever was complimenting him like this, who managed to keep him going for weeks now.

He wanted to confront this person

He wanted to thank them for giving him a reason to even get up to go to practice.

He wanted to say how he started to feel the same for this mysterious person.
