POEM STARTER

'We all look the same in the dark.'

No One Strand The Same

Blond, brown, black, no one strand the same

As the light shines, face and body shift

Differences shown by flame

Each different look a gift.

In daylight, your reflection is never the same

Always looking different from them

In the daylight, looks define your name

Where jealousy or ego may stem

Shadows dance on the edge

Friends of the dark, slowly coming in

Visibility sitting on the edge

But what then?

As darkness sets,

That reflection fades,

Jealousy and ego resets

Seeing all in the same shades

Blond, brown, black, all strands the same

As the darkness sets, face and body remain

Differences hidden, known only by name

Each different look, no longer vain.
