Lily stood up and tried to stay standing, but she was just so nervous. Today was the day. The last day of school, and the day she was going to admit her crush on Vaughan, the prettiest girl in school. She walked through the halls of the school. Someone bumped into her and she dropped her papers. She bent over to pick them up and the person who bumped her also bent over to help her. Their hands brushed and Lily looked up. It turned out to be Vaughan. She blushed and looked down. “Sorry for making you drop your stuff” Vaughan said. “Oh- it’s fine.” Said Lily stuttering. They both stood up. “Umm…Vaughan, I have something to tell you.” Lily stood up straight. “I have a crush on you.” Vaughan dropped her stuff and it spread all over the hall way. “Oh… I don’t know how to respond. Like, I think your cute and all, but what normal girl in the world would ever have a crush on another girl.” Vaughan responded. A group of girls had overheard the conversation and muttered something about lesbians and how dumb they were. Vaughan slapped Lily. “That’s what you get for making me the laughing stock of the school next year.” She stormed away. Lily ran as fast as she could, biting her cheek to hold back tear. She ran to her house and slammed the door open and closed until she got to her room, sobbing. She layed down as her bag gave out, and the supplies fell out. Later that night, there was a knock at the door. Lily looked through the people, surprised to see Vaughan standing, rocking on her feet nervously. Lily opened the door. “Look, I’m sorry for slapping you” Vaughan blurted out. “I hope we can still be friends?”

“That really hurt, Vaughan, but I’ll give you a second chance. I thought you might understand my feelings for you, but clearly you didn’t.” Lily replied, calm and carefully.
