When they fell

We cried out

We looked up

We watched the lights

As they fell towards us

At the speed of light

Jagged lines spreading across the sky

A beautiful tradagy

And in that moment we looked around

At all the other people

At all the other hearts

All beating in synchronization

And realized

We all carry a burden

We have all lost something

We know what it feels like to be alone

And in that moment

We were united

Part of the same being

Part of the same breath

Part of the same mindset

In this world

We were united

And we looked up

Squeezed each others hands

Reassured each other

Accepted our fate
