During their travels Huo Linghun and Xiao Xin happened upon wild roses. Many bushes grew together, dotted with dark pink, light pink, and white flowers.

“They’re so pretty,” Xiao Xin said, admiring the roses.

“Finish the sentence, Xiao Xin,” Huo Linghun said. “In a world full of roses, be a…”

Xiao Xin became quietly thoughtful, gently touching the roses’ soft petals. Eventually he replied, “In a world full of roses, be a person with someone to love.” He carefully picked a rose and handed it to Huo Linghun; “So you can give them roses.”

Huo Linghun smiled as he accepted the offered rose. He picked one too and removed the thorns before sticking it into Xiao Xin’s hair. “I am very lucky,” he said, “to be a person with someone to love.”
