COMPETITION PROMPT

As the pair crossed the roaring river, they noticed a figure waiting for them on the other side.

The other side

“Come on, just a little further.” Called Jack.

“I can’t, and you know that.” I replied.

We had forged through the amazon to find a cure for my cancer. There were legends of a holy temple with sacred healing water located in the amazon. There hasn’t been any luck and I feel as if i’m growing weaker.

“Let’s camp here for the night, and in the morning we can cross the river, my love.” Said Jack

I nodded my head, refusing to tell him that I felt weaker by the day. I had convinced him to come on this journey with me, I had told him that I can do this. I feel as though i’m letting my promise down. I don’t know how much longer I can last.

Dawn came. As I woke up, I saw Jack making breakfast.

“I made your favorite. I cooked some potatoes and eggs.” Said Jack, as he handed it to me.

“Thank you.” I replied, smiling softly.

Jack looked at me with his loving eyes.

“You know, just say the word and we’ll leave immediately.” Jack said softly.

“I’m good, seriously.” I replied, although I lied.

I grabbed my things and put on a fresh set of clothes for the journey through the river.

“Ready?” Asked Jack

“Yes.” I smiled

As we crossed through the roaring river, I saw a figure.

A figure so beautiful it could light up the world. The glowing ray of sunshine hitting its face, I knew anything was possible.

I looked at Jack, letting him know how much I deeply cherish and love him and I let go of his hand.

I walked up to the figure, and grabbed his hand.

“My child, your time has come.” He said.

His words were as soft as the clouds and as vast as the world.

I felt safe and comfortable, like this was my destiny.

“My kingdom awaits you.” said, the son of God.

Stairs appear ascending up into heaven.

I look back, barley seeing Jack’s face.

I think I died in his arms, I began to recall, right before we left for the river.

I believe I died and imagined us going together into the river.

I looked down and saw myself standing on water.

I was ready to face my destiny.

I held Jesus’s hand and walked with him into the gates of heaven.

I could hear the sound of angels singing and big beautiful bells ringing.

I looked around, ready to began a new journey.
