WRITING OBSTACLE

Inspired by Samantha Roberts

Write a descriptive scene about a character feeling the sunlight on their face for the first time in a very long while.

Try to use as many senses as you can to capture this moment.

Sunlight

Sunlight loomed over the fields as the water glistened, a pink and orange hue dancing upon the waves and foam of the sea. Hopes heart melted at the sight of the land almost blending together. The beauty of it being the most overwhelming thing in the galaxy. The moon loomed over the sun as though taunting to remove its majestic glow that overshadowed the night and broke into the day. Hope breathed a sigh of relief as she settled on her garden chair and her dogs roamed around her area. The moment feeling sc though a perfection had granted over her land. She breathed in the scent pf fresh daisies and freshly cut grass and gave a small smile at the sun ad it beamed back at her.

Swiping through, the moon overtook the suns glory and brought its on shine upon the area. The dim light like a lampshade in a dark sky. Sighing, she stared up as the warm orange and pink melted into dark blue and purples as the galaxy melded together in a light sp sweet and so perfect she felt as though she was dreaming this very moment. Her dogs howled as they tan to her, a smile granting her face as her long white hair flew in the breeze, the wknd whispering an inaudible tune that the flowers swayed at and the trees danced gracefully with. Perfection…

“Stunning…” her raspy voice muttered as she felt her wrinkled soften on her face into a warm smile, embracing the area that distracted her from her overbearing sickness that haunted her. She had thought she had lost everything but not the majestic glory of the midnight sky that melded into nightfall that would then melt back into dayfall come morning. This night felt special. And she couldn’t quite put her finger upon it, but the stars twinkled and the air whistled, long green blades of glass swayed wistfully in the breeze as petals intertwined with the breeze, making a soft glow. As flowers danced in the air she couldn’t help but feel more at home than she had her entire life. The beauty was picturesque, her eyes almost feeling privileged to lay themselves on such a glorious sight. As she laid her head back in her chair she coughed softly, her face dropping suddenly at the familiar metallic tase of red bubbling blood. Again. A cough erupted from her sore throat and blood splattered all over a perfect white rose, splattering it to look as though the Queen of hearts herself had done so. Her eyes rolled back into her head as a whiteness hovered her eyes completely before the whole area went black as though the whiteness had overtook her.

Minutes felt like hours and hours fekt like days stuck in the hospital building, the top floor still mainting that gorgeous view that so very excited her. Even though her sickness had worsened she still had faith in her survival despite the obviously inevitable. And still, her white hair flowed as the window opened, the air and light peeking through the blinds that blocked her view. She could no longer talk. She had lost the ability to hum a merry tune to the robins that surpassed her window and she had lost the ability to sing to her grandchildren when they would visit. Eventually, she would be nothing but saggy skin and a bag of dust that was disintegrating into what felt like nothing. Still, she would stay optimistic. God knows she needed to. Even though she was in pain that haunted her more than any other pain had she still looked upon the skylight and slipped out of her bed to take a look at the glorious sky through the hospital window. Nothing would compare to the glory of it… not anything as she collapsed onto the floor with a smile as white took her vision once again, though in the corner that familiar glow of the sun stayed… stayed right until the end…
