POEM STARTER

Inspired by Raven J

Write a poem about any of the five main senses: touch, sight, smell, taste, or hearing.

Medusa’s Lover

I could only hear your words of warning the first time we met

“Don’t look at me beautiful woman! You will die a sudden death”

You cried these words with anguish in your voice

Luckily for you, I had no choice

For I was born without my eyes, and were therefore obedient to your cries

I could hear your snakes slithering where your hair should’ve been

Your scales as hard as diamonds yet your voice as soft as soft as skin

Being your only option of friendship, we became much more than that

Sitting under apple trees and saying all the things you could never say as we sat

“I have been lucky to meet someone as kind as you” the snake woman said

“Or I you” I replied while laying on a grass bed

Then we slept in peace, knowing nobody would dare go near the feared Medusa, and her blind girlfriend.
