Your character hikes to this abandoned but beautiful quarry. Describe their day here.

The whimsical quarry

Lifty felt the cool breeze gently stroke his face, a soothing sensation. He felt the uneven rocks beneath his feet. He was exhausted.

With prompt haste, he took off his flowing wizard’s robe and shoved it into his bag. He sat down and breathed a sigh of relief. Some well earned rest, he thought.

Lifty admired the view, setting his staff on the floor beside him. A quarry, but no ordinary one. It was known as the quarry of whimsy, and it was used a place to extract magical gramoolia crystals for thousands of years, before an accident had occurred where the crystals exploded into a gushing green liquid. However, it gave off a strong magical aura that intrigued the senses, and granted whimsy to the soul of anyone who visited. But the magical feeling wasn’t the only whimsical thing that the place had to offer.

The quarry was truly sight to be seen, the rock arranged and piled I such a way that it looked like a childish giant had appeared from a nearby cave and had played with some stone blocks. The blocky stones were slotted unevenly, each one a different shape. Luscious green grass sprouted cheekily from the gaps, adding colour amongst the grey rocks. Vibrant trees poked through the gaps too, each one like a slender wooden tentacle reaching out playfully, curling and twisting. Their leaves were gradients of wondrous colours, with splashes of fabulous and striking colour covering the top of the crooked trees. Cliffs loomed overhead, as if they were protecting the wonderful wonderland that lay beneath them.

And, most fabulous of all was the beautiful green water that lay in the centre of the quarry. The rocks dropped down to reveal a gorgeous lake of emerald water, that came from crystals long ago. It fizzed and bubbled restlessly like a witches cauldron. It was truly the centrepiece of this abandoned but beautiful quarry.

Lifty took a swig of bubbleberry juice from his bottle and took a bite of bread as he gazed upon the scene before him, legs dangling over the rocks. How perfect!
