POEM STARTER
Write a poem that centers around the question: Why do some seek out blood and others seek to heal?
Biting The Nail
Drops of water flowing,
Pain from the past keeps showing.
It doesn’t belong —
Not in my body, yet it has for so long.
Some say crazy,
Some say shame.
But what does it matter,
When it all sounds the same?
A family with no healing
Is a family not to blame.
Sometimes healing’s a path — mundane,
Stressful, heavy,
The weight of the well.
Some families like it,
Some wait to set sail.
All that matters
Is we all walk through hail.
Healing is a power you must contain —
Too much of it,
You’ll go down in flames.
So why do some seek blood, you may ask,
While others seek to heal?
Sometimes it comes —
A garden they choose to feel.
Like leaves in the night,
Loud and full of might,
They drift past the gate
Of no insight.
No lessons.
No light.
In the darkness they live —
Is there no other way for thee?
Scars are but memories,
Lost in your eyes.
And soon, one day,
You’ll wake up —
Just as surprised.
