The Fall
'Words are wasted on those who do not listen' Those were the words that my mother repeated to me daily as a child. She spoke them because she knew of the things I was cabable of, the magic I could create. I didn't though, I didn't listen so her words and warnings were wasted. Gods I wished that I had now. Perhaps then I wouldn't be hanging from a cliff in the middle of Scotland with one hand. But I didn't, so now I must find my way on my own, to a place that looks after kids like me. Kids that can make worlds... Or break them.
I sigh, no point reminiscing on my past now, that would only lead to my life flashing before my eyes sooner than I intended.
'JANE! ARE YOU GOING TO HELP OR JUST HANG THERE LIKE A PIECE OF CLOTH!' I heard James shout over the wind.
'IF YOU'RE REMINICSING ABOUT MOTHER AGAIN, I SWEAR TO THE GODS, IF YOU SURVIVE THIS I WILL KILL YOU' He yells again.
'Jerk' I grumble under my breath, knowing he wouldn't be able to hear me over the roaring wind.
I tug on his hand hard, trying to pull him off balance.
'WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU IDIOT?!' He screams.
'TRYING TO SAVE YOUR BUTT, CAN YOU NOT HEAR THE WRAITHS?!' I yell in response, he doesn't respond for a few seconds, but when he does, a new air of panic is in his voice,
'WE BETTER HOPE THAT ALICE IS RUNNING ON TIME, THE WRAITHS ARE ABOUT 100M BEHIND ME' I tug on his hand again pulling him closer to the cliff's edge.
'GUESS ITS TIME TO PRAY THAT ALICE GOT THAT MESSAGE IMP' I yell, pulling on James one final time, pushing off of the cliff with my legs as I do so.
We go flying away from the cliff both screaming at the top of our lungs. I close my eyes tight and pull James close to me, waiting to hit something, whether that be the sharp rocks below or the scaly hide of Alice's companion Vale.
A sudden shock goes through my body as I hit Vale's vast body. It quickly fades as Alice pulls James and I into the large saddle that rests on vales back.
'OH THANK THE GODS YOU CAME WHEN YOU DID' I scream at Alice, hugging her tightly.
'YOUR WELCOME JANE, THAT WAS A CLOSE CALL HEY?!' she yells in response.
'YOU HAVE NO IDEA' James yells, joining a conversation.
'HOW ABOUT WE GET OUT OF HERE THEN?!' Alice yells.
'YES PLEASE!' James and I yell in unison, giggling as a cloud of mist envelopes us, signaling the next leg of our journey.
