STORY STARTER
Why do you and your fellow student, who witnessed the threat, decide to keep investigating instead of going to authorities?
Excerpt 1
I close the door with a click, leaving me out in the music note riddled hallway. Walking away from the classroom with the “Sean” kid, I wondered if she was actually serious. Threatening to kill us if we don’t do what she wants? How would she even kill us? I mean, she could get our dorm rooms from the office files, but I don’t see her plans going much further from there.
Even if her plan didn’t make sense in retrospect, I still have to say something about it. I mean, what she told us was really unprofessional and she said it on camera.
“Hey, Sean, right?” I start, forming a plan in my head.
“Yeah, what do you want?” He responds, quiet and unbothered.
“Should we go report her?”
“No.” Sean says after staying alone for a little while.
“What? Why not?!” I say, confused.
“Cause’ then she’ll kill us…” He said like it was common sense.
“But she said it on camera! We could get her fired!” I respond, hoping that he will understand where I’m coming from.
“She might’ve, but if we do tell and she doesn’t end up getting fired, it’ll be wraps for us.”
“So you’re saying we just don’t report that…”
“No; I’m just saying we atleast need more proof of her intentions before we jump into things.” Sean said, turning to me and crossing his arms.
“Ok, like I just said, she said it ON CAMERA,” I exclaim, “how is that not evidence enough?”
“Ok fine then, you can go report her and see how it goes, if it works, fine, if it doesn’t, I told you so.”
I walk the other way towards the head office, not bothering to listen to him anymore. He just pissed me ALL the way off, because his points made no sense.
I made it to the office, the promptly asked to see the principal. The principal’s office smelled a mint and tobacco, not the type of smells you’d expect in a prestigious school. The principal looked up from their desk, tilting their head to the side.
“What do you need?” They mumbled, clearly not too focused of work right now.
“I need to report something about Ms. Janus.” I then proceed to tell them about what she said and asking them to check the camera.
“Oof, well bad luck for you, there is maintenance being done on the cameras right now.” They started, clearly intrigued by my claim. “And you should be well aware that we can’t do anything about claims like this without evidence…”
Damn it! Of course the cameras were down. Nothing can just go my way huh?
“Oh, well thanks for telling me.” I leave out of the office, hopes crushed. Guess I’ll need to get some evidence myself…
