WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a descriptive piece about a desolate landscape.
Think about how you can describe both the physical aspects, and atmosphere, of this place.
No Man’s Land
A place where man doesn’t belong. This place is known as _No Man’s Land, _it is a land where people either brave or foolish enough cross into. This area, once a fertile paradise, now overrun by a plague, a malice, chaotic entities known as…**_Reapers_**. The land was littered with glistening lakes and river that glowed like fire under the blazing sun, and now those same rivers and lakes are dried up dead. The trees wilt and decay leaving but grey, trunks that barely stand right. The grass that was green now gone, replaced with mud and stone. One thing that hurts the lands the most…is the infinite fog that shrouds thing place in a thick, gray layer of mist, leaving no sunlight, no visibility and very little oxygen. The few that have ventured into **_No Man’s Land _**have all said the same thing, “_the second you lose focus or close your eyes. One of them is bound to be on you.” _
The one people who go in, are those who wish to see the reapers gone from this world though… the information they gather never stays the same as the reapers are always changing…always evolving.
What first began as a harmless experiment of magic and nature that humans should’ve _never_ touched, spiraled into something that even the gods fear. These creatures, _reapers_, were supposed to be the next step, the next breakthrough in magical engineering went the opposite direction it was meant to.
Born with humanoid frames, arms, legs, head, hands and feet, but soon evolve into something grotesque and evil. They start out small, human sized, then depending on how much life they steal and how long they live…can vary the form of the reaper. Reports and photos have shown reapers to have grown extra limbs, heads and other things that should not be possible, some even grow to monstrous sizes. They feed off life, all forms of it. Plants, animals…humans, ever since the first reaper got a taste of it, they went mad with wanting more. They repopulate by infecting the beings that resided there with their inky tar like blood, all efforts to cure the infection were failed. The area had to evacuate and close of the site but it did little to stop the spread. The _reaper’s _insatiable hunger went beyond the facility and they began to drain the surrounding land of life. Soon, the entire area, from the **_Great Sea River_** to the **_Twin Peaks of Amaru _**was sealed off from any and all who have a death wish.
**_No Man’s Land_** would be told in academies and books around the world, and they all end up saying the same thing…
“_Soon, the reapers will run out of life to feed in _**_No Man’s Land _**_and will venture out to devour more life. So, we must be ready for that day.” _
