WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a multi-POV story from the perspective of three different people across the globe looking at the same thing.
What could they all be looking at and how might they percieve it differently?
Perspectives
The United States of America: Early Morning
The light projecting from the sun bit at my face as I opened my bedroom window. I closed my eyes letting the warmth flood through me. It was my favorite time of day—the small amount of time when the sun was getting ready for the day alongside me. The golden light flooded the ground leaving green streaks where trees were scattered across the yard. The harsh rays flooded into my room permitting me to not turn on the light. I stood as still as a statue for just a little while longer, absorbing every ounce of energy I could before the time was up. When the room grew dim beneath my eyelids, I knew the luxury had ended. I turned from the window before exposing my eyes to the gloomy room before me. Only a slight stream of light crawled in. I’ll just wait for tomorrow…
Paris, France: Late Afternoon
The sun slowly crept behind the majestic tower displayed before me. I sat on my usual bench examining the art layered in front of me. The fading sun slightly shown through the sea of iron. This was my regular routine. This was my bench. Every evening I was sitting on it. A darkness started creeping behind me as each minute passed, hinting to me this peaceful time was almost over. As the sun completely disappeared beyond the horizon, I started my trek home. Just like every other night…
Sydney, Australia: Midnight
I lay on the beach with the sand steadily sinking around me. I made little circles with my feet as the glowing moon winked down at me. The only thing illuminating the atmosphere surrounding me was the faint glimmering rays projecting from the iridescent orb above me. It’s said that if you looked close enough, you could see a man up there. The well-known man in the moon. I haven’t looked hard enough yet. I closed my eyes resting in the silence of the night. I enjoyed these moments—all of the little moments when I can just enjoy God’s Creations. For me, this doesn’t come often, so when it does, I soak up every second of it. After time, I fell into sleep, waking as the sun bit my face the next morning.
Millions of people around the world experience sunrises, sunsets, and late nights with the moon, but many don’t think about what’s behind it. Who created it? Why it works that way? How different places experience it all at the same time? We aren’t supposed to understand this. Most things in God’s world work this way. We need to have faith that He created everything for a reason. Every sunrise. Every sunset. Every star. Half of life is unanswerable questions. That’s why it’s so hard.
Hebrews 11:3 - “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”
