When the fairy’s love spell fades, a family has to deal with the consequences of it.
All Good Things Come To An End
“Darling, time for dinner!” i called out cheerfully to my lover.
His steps paused for a moment, and be descended the stairs. I looked up at him with a smile on my face. However the warm face that usually greeted me was instead cold, devoid of any emotion.
I cocked my head to the side. “Darling..? Is something wrong?”
“Don’t call me that.” My lover hissed.
The sudden change in attitude caused me to jump slightly, and his sharp tone sent shivers of dread down my spine.
“Alex-“ I began, before he stepped foward and seized my wrist. I winced.
‘Why would he be acting like this…Surely the spell couldn’t have…worn off’ I thought to myself.
The fairy did say that it was only guaranteed 20 years, and could wear off whenever after that. I had hoped it would never wear off. I snapped myself out of my thoughts, his gaze was still icy and fixated on me. I looked away.
“You. You did something to me that night. The night I spent at your house. There must’ve been something in that drink you gave me. All this time i’ve been moving like a robot, feeling these emotions thag weren’t mine. I gave you love but i did not love you. How…how could you!?” His voice rose to a shout, and his grip further tightened. I swallowed hard as my lip trembled.
“Say something.” He demanded, his voice low.
My lips parted, yet I could only mutter a measily; “I-i..” He dropped my wrist, and backed away as he cursed to himself.
“Tell me what you did.”
Each time he used that tone with me, my heart sank further. His command left no room for objections.
“I..I had a fairy cast a spell.” I directed my gaze downwards.
He let out a mirthless laugh.
“You spent all this time taking advantage of me and enjoying your little fantasy. I even have kids with you. 3 damn kids! You.. you’re sick.” His peircing gaze fell upon me once again, and tears began to roll down my cheek. “I can’t belive you would put a spell on me. I trusted you for god’s sake!”
“I-i’m sorry..I-“
“Save it.”
