STORY STARTER
You can’t tell if your upstairs neighbour is genuinely a nice person or if they're really the devil incarnate...
The Devil In Disguise
I just moved into this new place, from a house to apartment is a big change. My therapist politely suggested that my big secluded house in the forest wasn’t making my growing insomnia and depression any better. Being that I had the money and didn’t want these feelings I had to continue I chose to move more in city.
I unenthusiasticly made a checklist for this new move to keep me on track. As suggested by my therapist to get out and keep my goals well in check. I need to meet my neighbors , go out at least 2 nights a week, and have a consistent and regular sleeping schedule and day time schedule. Being that my first order of business was to get acquainted with neighbors my upstairs neighbor made it easy. As soon as I moved in she came to tell me her name very estatic I was there .
“Hello new neighbor my name is Melissa I haven’t had a new neighbor under me in months do you need help unpacking”. I replied I’m fine but thinking about my therapist words I asked if later I can go up with a bottle of wine. She said “neighbor I’m already starting to like you these smart ideas you already have I’ll see you later”. After unpacking for a few hours I kept my word and knocked on her door with a bottle of wine. Her apartment was ordinary but I did pick up on the fact she had many scratches on her back and her arms I could see because she had a tank top on. I asked if she had a cat or dog she said of course not you know our apartment doesn’t allow animals. Those scratches didn’t look self inflicted but I laughed it off. Second thing that was a little weird when I went to her bathroom I do admit I was being a little nosey and looked at her medicine cabinet. When I tell you I wasn’t prepared to see so many pills and I’ve seen my fare share of medication being depressed but damn there had to be at least 60 bottles of medicine. Than under her sink had another hundred bottles of meds. After that it was already getting late I was trying to remain calm and brush it off but that really put me off so I just said I was getting tired and wanted to sleep.
I took a shower this was an important start to my routine than layed down. Even though I really wanted to sleep I kept turning in bed so I obviously couldn’t sleep. Come around 3 am I start hearing almost growling from upstairs and I honestly got scared so I turned my bathroom light on to assure me there’s no creature. Than I hear the most blood curdling scream that turned to a cry from Mellisa’s apartment. I wanted to check on her so I open my door and use my flash light to go upstairs to check on her. Than another neighbor on my floor yells at me to go inside and close the door please practically begging me. Obviously I do exactly so I lock the door and hope she’s ok. The clock hit 3:33 am and there’s just repeated screaming and crying slamming at breaking. After it finally stopped I left to my mothers house and never came back I got movers to move my things into my mothers home. The movers told me a women named Mellissa was asking why I’m leaving so soon but I will never go back there.
