A Path Far Gone
Out past a wet and grassy vale,
I walked a trail out in the woods
and found a fog among the trees
that left the past a place far gone
and though I tried to turn around
to find the tracks of where I’d been
the mist blocked my view going back
to render only what I felt—
a memory beyond reach.
