Write a story set on this misty path.
The Path
This path takes me home.
No matter how far away I venture from home, this missy, cool path, will always lead me home.
I never thought I’d actually need to use the path. Actually I’ve avoided it like the plague. But here I am. Completely lost.
It’s come to this i am completely lost. I don’t know which way is up and my right from my left. And everything is pitch black, except for The Path. Ever since I moved out of my “family’s” house, this path has always been there. It always connects right to my old front door where I grew up.
I do not want to have to use it because of the reason I moved out. Let’s just say I was definitely not the favorite child. Anyway more on that later. Having to use that path is a last last last ditch effort to get back to reality. But it is literally the only way to go so I reluctantly step onto that dam and mist path. Also I didn’t mention, I can’t venture off her path till I get on. So once I’m on it, I can’t leave till I arrive home.
I slowly started to advance to my childhood home. As I walked the memories kept coming back and I remembered why I moved out in the first place, but I have no other choice so I push on.
I’ve been walking for about, what seems like, one hour when I start to see the faint outline of my red front door. I inch slowly forward and the image of my former house.
As I approach the front sidewalk, i see my moms beautiful flower bed overgrown, dry, dead, which was odd because she always kept it very organized and beautiful.
I reach the front door. I know I have to go in to be free of the path. I open the door. I expect my dog Izzy to come run up and great me, but only a old grey cat slowly appears from behind the couch.
What happened to Izzy. Where’s Finn? Finn was my moms cat.
I announce happily, that I am home to my family.
I expect to see my beautiful 52 year old mother come out from the kitchen to hug me and i am expecting my dad to come out and say, “HELLO!”
But no what comes out is a 92 old woman and a 95 year old man with cane.
I’ve been gone for 40 years? How is that possible, I only left 3 years ago?
