WRITING OBSTACLE
Choose a lyric from a song and let it inspire you to write a fantasy story.
It can be any lyric you like, but the story should still fit the fantasy genre so consider which lyrics might work best for this.
You’re the only Savior
“You’re the only Savior to me full of scars.” Still Monster, Enhypen
It takes exactly 10 days for a vampire to die of thirst for blood.
The most desperate ones would bite their own tongue without realizing that we are our own poisons. Our own blood can kill us which is why its so hard to pierce our skin. A sip of our own blood makes us further go onto the cycle of vampirism. Being a vampire means to be dead but live on the life of others through blood. Most of our bodily functions are useless especially white blood cells that fight off poisons. Instead these cells are replaced by the poison itself.
Now what happens when these poisons are introduced to itself?
It negates and rejects itself cause only one can survive.
“Damn you, Roisin.” I call out as the pain goes another more excruciating level. Annoyingly I am still conscious as I have lived a life of pain, never able to run away from it.
“Well, fuck you too vamp.”
Suddenly my mouth was filled with refreshing blood, the only type I can stomach cause of some dumb life-bounding promise I was forced into.
The flavor was so delicious I felt years younger. My strength returned and no longer was my mouth dry.
I made sure to drink all that was in the blood bank not wasting a single drop because who knows when I’m able to drink this again with such an unreliable supplier I am forever bound to drink from.
“Don’t look at me like that, you think it was easy finding you? May I remind you we are being chased? By both the vampires and the bloody military?” Roisin had the gall to believe she was in the right.
I threw the empty blood bag and stood up from my position on the ground as previously I was nearing death more than ever. “Break the vow or I’ll let both of us die.”
“No.”
“It’s your fault I can’t drink from anyone else therefore I can’t use the full extent of my abilities.”
“Well maybe if you weren’t such a wild beast slaying anyone for blood then maybe I wouldn’t have made you promise to only drink mine.”
“I’ve lived hundreds of years and no one else has ever been crueler to me.”
I remember the way she had a stake right at my heart ready to end my life but instead she said
‘Promise you’ll only drink my blood for as long I live when I give it to you and stop when I say so’ then she forced the promise onto me as she drove the stake and shoved her wrist onto my mouth. A promise can only be bound when both drink each other’s blood. Roisin pulled out the stake and licked the tip. I drove my teeth onto her wrist out of survival instinct as my heart needed blood to heal from the attack.
“Fionn or whatever it is your name this time, I’m came through remember? Maybe I was a bit late but we have bigger things to worry about.” Roisin pulled out something from her pocket. It was picture of me with blood all over my mouth. “Unfortunately you’re vampire number one on the list of mass murderers the government is out to exterminate.”
“Then break the vow so I can protect myself.”
“And kill everyone including me? Crazy. You’re still useful as a double spy so I will be the one to protect you.” In the entire history of vampire none have ever been protected by a short and most of all annoying vampire hunter/detective. I am a shame of my species.
“What if I promise to not hurt you?”
“Still leaves the door open for you to mass murder others so yeah I’m going to have to live as your blood bag.” She inspects me up and down. “When you turned into a vampire is one the side effects looking like a million bucks along with the whole blood thing or was everyone in your time gorgeous?”
“Your vanity is astounding with entire armies of the most powerful groups in the world out to get us.”
“I’m curious okay? And I’d like to think that we’d both make it through somehow.”
“Based on what? Positivity?”
“Based on the fact of this.” Roisin pulls up a bullet of sorts with what seems like blood in it. Maybe not a bullet but it has a glass part holding the blood and a sharp part made out of metal.
“What in the bloody hell is that?” I couldn’t help but frown.
“World’s first vampire poison bullet.” Roisin proudly said.
I raised an eyebrow. Vampire can die of two things stake at chest which requires you to be able to catch them even with supernatural speed and thirst which require you to keep them trapped long enough even with supernatural strength. I’ve seen hunters try other methods but none have been too successful. “And you’ve tested it?”
“Yeah but it was in trial testing mode so I had to use all my attempts with the Nero. Thankfully he died though I had to use all your blood to do it.” Roisin put the bullet onto my hands.
“You killed a member of the Nero with this?” The Nero were members of the most powerful vampire clan. They were miles above in supernatural powers and even made their own. They couldn’t even die from thirst as their vampire cells evolved to be self sustaining unlike me. The amount of blood they had to drink to be able to do that was worth entire villages.
“It was a team effort, I had Naturi cover for me while I shot. She’s gone now.”
Naturi was one of the vampires I met who greeted with how do vampires die instead of a hello. She must have lived a long and hard life to be seeking an end.
“Because of the Nero?”
Roisin scratched her head. “Because of me. She the first willing test subject for the bullet. It took 20 for the Nero plus all your blood samples shoved down his throat. And one for Naturi.”
“So you plan to eradicate the vampire race with these?” The thing was so small I couldn’t imagine it against a Nero much lesser for weaker vampires.
“We will eradicate it. It is our blood in that after all.” Roisin put her arm around my shoulder. “Turns out we make a deadly pair.”
I moved her arm away. “Don’t touch me.”
“Aww but I saved your life.”
“When it’s your fault I almost died.”
“I’m sorry okay, let’s kill some vampire ass together.” Roisin followed after me as I walked away already sick of her.
Why did I trouble myself with her when I found out she was one the patients in the hospital with a rare disease wherein she produced too much blood?
Why didn’t I know she was a vampire hunter even with such a disease?
