POEM STARTER

Write a poem that focuses on the theme of imagination.

You could think about the role of imagination itself, or just get really creative and write your own imaginative poem.

Brain Food

If I asked you not to think,

Of elephants that are pink.

Of course they come to front of mind,

And so we end up in a bind.

Conversely - if someone asks,

Create an imaginative task,

You may just find your mind goes blank,

The water shallow in your think tank.

That is the beauty of the brain,

The thoughts we conjure and we chain.

Just like how logical things seem,

When playing out amidst your dreams.

What you call red, I may call blue,

We’ll never know if that is true.

Our own experience is subjective,

No impartiality directive.

Left brain, right brain, neither is better.

Good with numbers or with letters.

So if a task causes stagnation,

Blame it on imagination.
