“A nail gun is my preference” said Dova as she led me around the room “in fact, no matter what circumstance you are in, a nail gun will never fail you, especially if you know how to aim it.

“a nail gun it is.” I shrugged, not entirely sure why. Maybe I should have picked something more traditional, when it came down to life or death, but I had learned to trust Dova. And after my staff was destroyed, I decided it was essential to find a weapon that could easily be replaced.

Dova pulled a dark purple one off the wall, which just proved how much she knew me.

“This model is by FAR the most effective, but hardest to use.” I wasn’t surprised by that. Dova loved challenging me, pushing me beyond my limits, but still trying not to kill me. And it seemed to be effective, I had become a powerful magician, and I was much more adept at battle strategy than I had been before.

I took the nail gun from her, and pointed it at the target in the middle of the far wall, knowing that I needed to start practicing as soon as possible. I pulled the trigger, I heard a loud THWUK as the nail pierced the wood. Of the wall. I had missed the target by at least a foot.

“Well, I guess it’s good we have so much time to kill.” Dova said, with her hand in her hips.

“But we DONT have time to kill!” I argued.

“Yes we do Liss.” She said, and I knew she wasn’t backing down. But neither was I.

“No we don’t! We need to storm their fortress! We need to take them out! We need to rescue Graham!” My voice broke on the last part. 2 months since my brother had been taken.

“It won’t do Graham any good if you get yourself killed trying to fight demons. What will do him good, is if you master your nail gun, and kill all of them.” I knew she had a point. Which meant I needed to master this nail gun, and fast.
