If you don't have a pet you could think of someone else's, or any animal you are familiar with.

She walks in, stomping, and sits down with a thump. Her skirt is more rolled than not, and that crop top’s very much indecent.
When she talks, it becomes clear she’s chewing gum.
“I’m hungry.”
