A Golden Moment

A cool morning breeze greets my skin,

Sunlight dancing gently through the trees again.

Birds lift songs that feel like peace,

As night quietly folds and finds its release.

The sun climbs slow, the world begins to wake,

Golden rays kiss the land, the rivers, the lakes.

But far-off clouds start whispering low,

A warning carried in the winds that blow.

They roll in fast with thunder’s roar,

Lightning writes sorrow across heaven’s floor.

The beauty I just held slips through my hand,

Torn apart before it even had a chance to stand.

Night rushes in like it knows the way,

The moon bursts through what’s left of day.

The sky full of stars seems dead and cold

A place once so magical now hurt to behold.
