WRITING OBSTACLE

Sanctuary. Elevate. Conscious.

In a story of no more than 10 lines, use these three words in any order. Try not to randomly throw them in, but think about a storyline that allows you to link them all naturally.

Escape

Just beyond consciousness lies a world in which you wish you would never leave. Your mind slips into this alternate reality, thankful for the sanctuary of peace it is allowed to rest in. It wanders, drifting through this calm that is so foreign in it’s natural state. The quiet is nice, but also strange, like you couldn’t hear if you wanted to. And it is this fact that reminds you; the drugs won’t work forever. Pretty soon, you’ll have to return to the chaos of the living. You know that as soon as this feeling wears off your mind will return—not quickly, and not completely, but still returning—and when it does you will do whatever it takes to elevate yourself to this level again. You will have to deal with the heaviness of your thoughts until you can return. But return you will, to this numb, beautiful, place.
