POEM STARTER

Submitted by SmileyGuitar

Write a poem that starts in a cheerful, bright mood, but then reveals underlying anger or bitterness.

You’re The Sun

You’re the sun, and I’m the stars

You shine radiant against my dim lights

You are the center, and I am afar

Your heat pushes away the harsh dark

You’re one of me, yet better, more bright

You’re the sun, and I’m the stars

Come too close to you, and I would char

But you could never reach me, nary will you try

You are the center, and I am afar

I look on at your beauty, your charm

And I wonder if I should hover or hide

You’re the sun, and I’m the stars

I stay up all night dreaming to shine as far

And so I twinkle and gleam with might

Yet, still, you are the center, and I am afar

I will never have as important a part

As you and your obnoxious stream of light

You’re the sun, and I’m the stars

You are the center, and I am afar
