We All Look the Same in the Dark
In the hush between the heartbeats,
when the lights have all gone still,
we shed the names they gave us,
and the masks we wore at will.
The mirror holds no judgment,
and the moon forgets your face,
there’s no badge of blood or border,
just the hush of shared space.
Your scars are not in focus,
my sins don’t glow like coal,
our shadows curl together,
each one part of a whole.
No kings or saints or beggars,
no flags, no fear, no spark—
we’re simply souls in silence,
for we all look the same in the dark.
The hand that reaches softly
feels no hue or history’s mark,
just skin, just breath, just longing—
we all look the same in the dark.
