WRITING OBSTACLE
Eager. Astonishing. Engulf.
In a story of no more than 10 lines, use these three words in any order. Try not to randomly throw them in, but think about a storyline that allows you to link them all naturally.
God Has Risen, The House Has Fallen
Hannah runs up the stairs, laughter floating of her and her siblings lips. Today is a good day, it is Easter, her family has just gotten back from church, and the girls all wear white sundresses, while the boys wear khaki cargo shorts paired with formal, fitted short sleeve shirts, that vary in pastel colors. Hannah tries her best to pass her siblings, eager to get to the door first, with speed and delicate grace Hannah wins the race and presses herself against the door, basking in her glory. “Ouch!” Hannah screams, jumping away from the door. As it is astonishing how hot it is. “What’s the matter, Hannah?” Hannah’s brother Blake asks. “The door is scorching!” Hannah exclaims, still a bit frazzled. Blake touches the door and has a similar reaction to that of Hannah. “Father!” Blake calls his voice dripping with worry. “Yes?” Their father says, senescing trouble with one look at his children’s faces. With Blakes instruction he touches the door and his eyebrows furrow. With out another word he runs to the back of the house before sprinting back screaming, “fire!” Instinctively the mother shouts at her family to get away from the house. Hannah cries out in fear, her little body shaking, tears running down her rosey cheeks, “mother God will live to see another day but our home shall not!” The shaken family gathers together as neighbors call the fire department and watch flames engulf there home.
